Jan 9 Wage and Hour Division Educational Forum & Payroll Audit Independent Determination Program (PAID) Educational Forum
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) will present an educational forum about developments in its policies and regulations, and its Payroll Audit Independent Determination Program (PAID), in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 9, 2019.
PAID facilitates resolution of potential overtime and minimum wage violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The program's primary objectives are to resolve such claims quickly and without litigation, to improve employers’ compliance with overtime and minimum wage obligations, and to ensure that more employees receive the back wages they are owed – faster.
The forum will include members of the Division’s Washington, D.C., Dallas regional staff, and New Orleans Office staff as well as representatives from the Louisiana Workforce Commission and employer associations from the area. If you are unable to attend in person, you can participate from the comfort of your own desk. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required. Complete advance registration.
For more information about the PAID program, visit www.dol.gov/whd/PAID, or call 866-4US-WAGE. For more information about this event, contact Community Outreach Specialist William Sabik at sabik.william@dol.gov.

Jan 23 2019 Chamber After 5: Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar - French Quarter

PRE-REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED.

Join the New Orleans Chamber at our premier evening networking event, the Chamber After 5, hosted by:

French Quarter

Complimentary hors d'ouevres, beer, wine & non-alcoholic beverages
Pre-registration is highly encouraged.

The Felix's story is the story of the New Orleans Oyster Bar. Ask any New Orleanian where their Paw-Paw (or Grandpa or Poppy or Auntie) went for oysters and the answer you'll get is Felix's.
Back in the 1940s, Felix's put the New Orleans Oyster Bar on the map, creating a place where oyster-lovers could 'belly up to the bar' and have the freshest oysters shucked right in front of them. Felix's fast became a New Orleans institution that drew a devoted local following, and inspired generations of oyster fans.
Felix's has always been locally owned, and still is. Come taste why we are the place to go for those who know.

Jan 24 2019 Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening: Big Chief Vapor Products
Join us in celebrating the grand opening of Big Chief Vapor Products in the Marigny with a ribbon cutting!

Big Chief Vapors opened their doors to the Chalmette community in 2014 and quickly became a pillar of St. Bernard Parish. They opened with one goal in mind: to improve the quality of life for all St. Bernard residents, and now they plan to do the same in New Orleans.

Big Chief Vapors provides the community with a wide variety of Vapor and CBD products. Each product that enters Big Chief is vetted to ensure that the highest quality products are available to consumers. High quality products along with a knowledgeable staff is the reason so many people have had success when they come to Big Chief.

The Ribbon cutting ceremony for Big Chief Vapors will include a special announcement by The Black Masking Endians. This announcement includes how Big Chief Vapors and the Mardi Gras Indians will be working together to preserve the culture of the New Orleans Big Chief.

Giving back and improving the community that we do business in is what Big Chief Vapors aims to do. In New Orleans, the Big Chief Indians are so much a part of our history and culture. That is why it is so vital that we work to preserve that history and culture. Big Chief Vapors plans on bringing awareness to the needs of our Mardi Gras Indians and is looking forward to involving the community in this endeavor.
