Luke Palmer is a Boulder, Colorado-born pianist who has called New Orleans home for the last 6 years. While he does play in the jazz scene and, in fact, moved here for that very reason, his true love is creating original, classically-influenced compositions (don't tell his bands). Pairing his playful, improvising spirit with love for the classical music that inspired him to become a musician, Luke offers a sound that will spark your curiosity, suddenly make you smile, and leave you wanting to go home and dust off your instrument. At this show, Luke will play original compositions which, according to him, "experiment with underrepresented rhythms and harmonies," and, according to his girlfriend, "represent his sweet, tender heart." His inspirations include Beethoven, Ravel, Kurt Gödel, Del Close, and his mom. Luke looks forward to the opportunity to share his original pieces, many of which he has poured his lifeblood into for years. We hope you will join us for this evening which will span every sensation, from grounded intimacy to playful abstraction.
