Be a part of the work-readiness success story for high school students with disabilities with the LSU Health Human Development Center PAYCheck Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Orleans, LA – The LSU Health Human Development Center (HDC) invites local businesses to partner with the Postsecondary Apprenticeships for Youth (PAYCheck) Program, an initiative designed to help high school students with disabilities gain meaningful employment experience. Through this program, employers can make a lasting impact on young adults while also benefiting from financial incentives and dedicated support.

PAYCheck participants are eager to work, and employers can hire them for part-time, short-term employment with 100% wage reimbursement (up to 240 hours) through Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS). Businesses that hire PAYCheck students for long-term employment are eligible for a federal tax exemption. In addition, businesses will receive free marketing and social media promotion as employment partners of LSU Health HDC.

To ensure a seamless and supportive experience, PAYCheck Transition Specialists will be on-site to support PAYCheck interns as needed. If businesses are hesitant to hire an intern, they can still participate through worksite visits or job shadowing opportunities—helping students explore careers while showcasing their industry.

By partnering with PAYCheck, businesses foster a more inclusive workforce, support local talent, and build a lasting community impact
