NEW ORLEANS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & MAYOR’S OFFICE OF NIGHTTIME ECONOMY
PARTNER WITH KEEP LOUISIANA BEAUTIFUL

Partnership aims to encourage local businesses in keeping New Orleans clean and beautiful
NEW ORLEANS (March 25, 2025) — The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of
New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Nighttime Economy, has joined the Clean Biz Partnership, a program created by
Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) to help reduce and prevent litter. These organizations are asking local businesses
to show their community pride by joining the effort.
As part of the campaign, KLB is providing supplies, recognition, and branded marketing toolkits to participating
chambers across the state and enrolled businesses to display in their place of business. The program was created
to address a recommendation made by the Litter Abatement and Beautification Task Force created by Governor
Edwards in 2023 and chaired by Lt. Governor Nungesser. Participating businesses agree to adopt litter prevention
best practices, including picking up litter around the business, placing trash receptacles at the business storefront
and maintaining a clean dumpster, among other cleanliness measures.
“The reason for our participation is simple - a clean New Orleans is good for business. By doing our part and
keeping our businesses litter-free, local leaders are working together to provide a great first impression to patrons
and visitors. Even small efforts can make a big impact on moving our city’s economy forward,” said Sandra
Lombana Lindquist, president & CEO of the New Orleans Chamber.
Benefits to participating businesses include promotional highlights, professional development opportunities and
consideration for a KLB Clean Business Award. As an added incentive, the New Orleans Chamber will offer a
complimentary first-time one-year membership to newly recruited Clean Biz Partner businesses.
Michael Ince, director of the Office of Nighttime Economy, said, “By offering this incentive, we will work together to
provide another set of resources and networking opportunities for businesses in the city of New Orleans while
leaving a positive impact on the community.” To kickoff this partnership, the New Orleans Chamber & the Office of
Nighttime Economy will host a Love the Boot Week event on April 9 th . (add link to details)
According to KLB Executive Director Susan Russell, a recent litter public attitude survey conducted in Louisiana
showed that 89% of those polled stated they believe litter negatively impacts businesses by decreasing revenues.
“Litter is a problem that affects the health and vitality of all communities in Louisiana,” said Russell. “Street flooding,
property values, tourism, our state’s image, the environment and our businesses are all impacted by litter. It’s a
responsibility that we all must share, including the business community, to make meaningful change and keep our
communities’ litter free.”
The Office of Nighttime Economy represents and advocates for hospitality and service industry related businesses
in the city of New Orleans. It has been dedicated to sharing the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Clean Biz program with
citywide businesses to both support their community and build relationships with business owners and
neighborhood groups.
